The Fortunately and Unfortunately of the End of School

by All of Us
(based on Fortunately by Remy Charlip)

Fortunately, it's almost summer.
Unfortunately, first grade is almost over.
Fortunately, we're going to have a lot of fun.
Unfortunately, we're going to miss our teacher.
Fortunately, we're going to second grade.
Unfortunately, we're going to get a lot more work.
Fortunately, we're a lot smarter.
Unfortunately, it's going to be a new teacher.
Fortunately, the teacher is going to be nice.
Unfortunately, we might not be with all of our friends.
Fortunately, we'll see them at recess.
Unfortunately, they might move.
Fortunately, we'll make new friends.
Unfortunately, the summer is only 3 months.
Fortunately, we can go swimming, sleep late, stay up late, go camping, go to the beach, go traveling, read books, go visiting, play outside, visit with friends, have sleep overs, bicycle, fly a kite, hike, skateboard, surf, and water ski. Summer is amazing, awesome, wonderful, magnificent, superb, glorious, delightful, great, terrific and fun in the sun!

You've all written wonderful stories. I wish I had an imagination to compare with all of yours! Good luck in second grade, and keep writing!
